Hey,
Yesterday was our school fete. We usually have a production and a fete but this year we had some performances at the fete from each grade. It was called rock throughout the ages! Our class was the 1980's. We sung thriller, we will rock you and we are together! We had good make-up and costumes to suit all of the songs. It worked out really well and the audience seemed to enjoy it! At the fete we had rides and different games and lots of stalls. We had the combat challenge, mini golf, a junior jumping castle and a dunking machine. We got heaps of the teacher saturated, it was really funny!! We also had candy floss and popcorn and snow cones stalls. My friend Steph had 5 things of candy floss and her teeth went pink. There were also all different stalls and lucky cups filled with toys or lollies and chocolate. There was a trash and treasure and a silent auction plus a normal auction! It was really fun and my friend got a tattoo!! It was a great day and a good way to end the week!!

White Chocolate Mousse
Hello,
I am going to give you a recipe to a really good white chocolate mousse. The recipe has come out of our school book and most of the recipes on my blog are from this book. It is a great treat that you will have to try! Click Here for the photos.
Ingredients
300g Of White Chocolate- Chopped
6 egg yolks
100g of caster sugar (plain white sugar will be fine)
500ml of thickened cream
Fresh Berries (optional) to serve
Method
Melt chocolate in a heat proof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water. Or on medium in the microwave in 1 minute bursts.
Place yolks and sugar in a large bowl and beat with an electric mixer for 5 minutes and until thick and creamy. Beat cream with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Fold in chocolate mixture to egg yolks and stir until combined. In spoon fulls gradually add the cream stirring quickly to prevent lumps from forming. Once combined put into six large cups for a good serving.
Chill for four hours.
Serve with fresh berries. Remember if you'de like to see all the photos Click Here but the finished product is not there because everyone ate it as soon as it came out.

Camp
Hello!
About a week ago I arrived back home from a very tiring camp. We went down to the beach and stayed at the nearby scout camp! Although it was very fun everyone was tired out by the end of the 5 days. On Monday we got our stuff put on the bus and drove down to our camp. It took about 2 hours to get there.
When we did arrive we put up or tents, got out our bags and lay down our sleeping bags. That day we also went down to the beach just to see what it was like! It was great. Over the days we went to the beach and played some games down there. We went on a great long hike for a few hours and afterwards relaxed a bit down at the beach. We also visited a light house and explored the rock pools and right off the edge we found a seal!! The seaweed was everywhere and it was called Neptune necklace.
We also went to a rope course and had a time challenge and went to another place called challenge valley with all sorts of different activities to do outside! We were very lucky with the weather but one night there was a bit of a storm but everyone lasted through it! The toilets were awful because they were drop dunnies but the showers were great with nice hot water!
All the things we did were really fun and on the hike there was a shoe cleaning place because the people who own the area didn't want a certain fungus to be spread! We also crossed a tiger snake breeding ground and walked along the cliffs. It was fantastic considering we had missed out on our other camp but that made up for it.
We were going to go to another beach but that got flooded out earlier in the year and wasn't going to be a very pleasant trip! That was the first time out school has ever gone to that beach and we all enjoyed it.

Meringues
Hi,
The other day I made some easy meringues. Here is the recipe.
Ingredients.
4 Egg Whites
1 Cup Of Caster Or White Sugar.
Method.
Pre-heat oven to 100 degrees Celsius. Mix up egg whites in an electric mixer until soft peeks form. It will go bubbly at first but keep mixing until you can see the lines of the beaters or soft peeks are appearing continue mixing and very slowly add the sugar, a little at a time. If you add it too fast it won't work and it will make a mess. So just little bit a time sprinkling over the egg whites as they are mixing! When it is all mixed together get a spoon and just dollop the meringue onto a greased baking tray, you can also use baking paper. They don't have to be in any particular shape but you can do that if you like. I got about 12 or 13 dollops over the tray. Then put the meringues in the oven and check them about every five or ten minutes for 30 to 35 minutes or until very lightly golden. If they don't turn golden that's fine because you can eat them when they're white with a creamy bit in the centre. Once finished cooking turn of the oven and open the door slightly and leave them in there to cool completely! Once they are taken out they are delicious!
Hope you enjoy them!
Sorry I didn't get a picture to see how they turned out but they were eaten very quickly and I couldn't find my camera!!

Orienteering!
Hi,
Today I went down to the district orienteering. Our school has now won 18 out of 21 times. We are going really well and have just taken the trophy once again! I was one out of two people chosen to go up and take the trophy to represent our school. The are three groups in each year level starting from grade 3 to enter for boys and girls. Girls A, Girls B and Pairs, Boys A, Boys B and Pairs. I was in the Girls B along with most of my friends and I was lucky enough to win. It took me 37 minutes to complete the large course and the 9 other people behind me took from 40 minutes to an hour or so! There were lots of steep hills but I managed to make my way up them. We had a great day out and have the trophy for our 18th time!

Halloween Party
Hello!!On Sunday I went to the Halloween party. When I got there the costumes were great. It's only my family who goes. Our Oma, aunties and uncles and our cousins. I dressed up as a witch and some funny comments and faces were shown towards me!! Especially by my sisters. When we arrived at the party there was a nice place set up, even eyeball lollies made out of marsh mellows, red gel and a black lolly in the middle. It was very spooky.
First off we played some games, one wasn't really a game but more of a contest for the best costume and I won! I dressed up as a witch and it took a long time to wipe off all the make-up from my face. Some of the other games were eating the doughnut off the string (with out your hands) and another one not using your hands, bobbing for apples, and ANOTHER one with out using your hands, there is icing sugar on a plate with jelly beans hidden inside and you have to use your mouth to dig them out and then eat them. We also played spooks, snakes, spiders. That was fun and then last we made some spiders out of pom-poms and pipe-cleaners. Afterwards we ad dinner, watched a movie, lit some sparklers and then it was time to go home!On Monday we went to another party and went trick or treating. We went to heaps of houses and got lots of lollies. Some houses were decorated really well and had Halloween things everywhere and one house was really scary because the man dressed up as a vampire and his 'pet', or so he calls it opened the door very slowly with a monster costume on and just when you think, this isn't that scary he opens the door and shouts out at you!! It was pretty funny. We should have seen it coming because there were signs everywhere reading, Danger, Beware Of Monster and Enter At Own Risk!! Then we walked back down to the party and just played on the flying fox and special swings. I built a huge tower with my friends younger sister and it was really good and stable because it kept going on taller than me and was very close to touching the roof! When we left we had to walk back tot the car on the cold and dark night but we had a great time over the Halloween time.
I would also like to say my sister has a blog and not many people are interested, if you are interested the link is here.

Weekends
How is everyone?
I am good and a busy weekend has crept up on me. Today I will be going to the cinemas with my friends for a birthday party. Ten grade 6 girls are meeting at my friend Mikaela's house and will be going to the movies. On Sunday we will be having a Halloween Celebration at my Oma's house. We are having it the day before Halloween so on the Monday we can go Trick Or Treating. I will be going with a few of my friends down the road. I will be dressing up as nothing in particular but having a French braid up the back of my hair tied in a bun and having a "spider" in my hair. Really just some pipe-cleaners and something to make a spiders face. For the Halloween Party

School: At School I have to make a musical instrument for music class, I looked at 4 different ones and two were actually new instruments. I looked at a tambourine because it would be reasonably easy and able to be decorated, a pan flute because it has a good sound and would be fun to make and then the two made up ones. First was based on a set of newton balls which is a frame with balls hanging, you pull the end and the energy travels through the rest and causes the end one to glide through the air and back down knocking the last one over and over again. So I thought if I extended the frames and hung keys of pipe to make chimes on either end, that when you pull the newton balls it would hit the chimes and make a noise. The second made up one, was to attach bells on a pan flute so you could still blow through it and also jiggle it around like a tambourine! In the end I chose a tambourine!Sunday, October 9, 2011
Party
Wow
Another sleepover. Last night my cousin, Brittney slept over at my house after the busy day before. We had both of my sisters parties.
| Our Balloon Pile! |
| Instead Of A Cake At Kata's Party We All Made Cupcakes! |
Katarina, the youngest turned 8 and had a very successful bug party. My mum and I organized the party with help from my dad and other sister Elizabeth who turned 10 and had a great disco party! Katarina's party was great and almost everyone turned up. They played pass the parcel and keep the balloon off the ground along with pin the stinger on the bee. There were fun bug related prizes and I think all the kids enjoyed the time! Next up was Elizabeth's party. Her disco party went well. The games played were well done and the party was good. All the kids who came their time!! 2 parties in 1 day was very busy but good because it was all over and done with! That night our cousin stayed over seeing as her younger sister came earlier for Katarina's party! Today we are at our grandma's house keeping her company! Tomorrow we will be going back to school for the last term of this year! Then I will be starting high school. YES!!!

Busy With Sleepovers
Hi,
Well that was a busy time. I have had two sleepovers in a row. First was with my grandma, and then with my friend. At my grandma's house I had fun and we had ravioli for dinner. The next day we went shopping for our Christmas presents, even though it's a little early! We thought that before all the super Christmastime presents came in we would go and chose our presents now and at Christmas we would get them! Then that day I went to my friends house and we watched some movies, we watched, Mean Girls 2 which was funny and Yours, Mine and Ours which was also funny. It was about 2 people a, who wanted to get married and each one had kids. The girl had 10 and the man had 8. They ended up with 18 fighting kids. They fought so much to break up their new parents but as soon as the Dad needs to leave for a military ship they decide they should be a family and the dad leaves his ship to come home! The day after we went down and played outside and then walked around the local street!

Uniform Fitting
Hi,
Yesterday my family drove to the new high school I will be going to next year. As I am familiar with the school because I was there in grade prep and 1 I new a little bit about the uniform. So we were having the fitting to make sure everything was right and see what I got to wear. The uniform was very big with all different clothes. I Summer and Sport because we would do the Winter next term. For the Summer there was just a dress plus the other uniform you wear all year round which is ankle socks, the jumper and blazer. The sport uniform was very simple, shorts, tee-shirt and a rugby jumper. I thought the uniform was pretty good and I really liked it! It was a great day and fun to see what I would be wearing next year.

Alohamora
Hello,
Just yesterday I went down the road to my sisters friends house to find a bunch of 9 &10 year old girls running a cafe called Alohamora. I decided to join in. There were brownies, meringues, choc-chip muffins and toffee! Only 4 different sweets plus some cordial made something like $40. The best part was that we could pay her dad back the money for change and got even more! We would also be donating all money to charity for Cystic Fibrosis and MS. Hopefully we can actually get it there! We chose those 2 causes because people we know have those problems. We thought we could help out by donating some money. The name was decided by one of my sisters friends for the stall Alohamora, it is a spell in Harry Potter, a spell to open a door as in open the door and walk into out cafe, even though it is out doors!! We were though for 3 hours from 12:30 to about 3 or 3:30 so maybe only 2 and a half but we still got a lot of customers and sold things for a very good price!

Excursion
Hello,
As you may have read from my "Holidays" post you would know that I went to a gold mine. I have now gone again with my school and to the discovery centre, in the local area! First the 5/6 unit had to be at the train station by 8:00am! Then we would catch the train at 8:12 to the gold mine. When we got there we travelled 61m below the surface and started to explore. We went down an elevator which was great and looked all around and learnt lots of interesting facts. We had split up into 3 groups so it was easy to get down safely and not be all crammed into the small tunnel underground. By small I mean width! We found out that in that same mine they held 8 different weddings but everyone had to wear the hard hats until they got into the right room! Then we went down to the Discovery Centre. It was very interesting and there were heaps of different things you could do. There was a theramin which makes different sounds depending on how you use your hands and you can even play different songs using it by just waving your hands in the air! There was also a tube that when you spoke into echoed your voice. A box with mirrors and a plate of fruit making it look very effective if someone put there head in a hole where the plate of food is circling around. There was also a thing where you sat on a chair with a rope and got to pull your self up and a big xylophone that when you stepped on a key it would make the noise come out a long metal tube. HEAPS of others. Then there was the vertical slide, you had to hold onto a bar and then be dropped down and slide for a while. We had to wear funny suits that were too big and extremely slippery! Then we caught the train back to the station and were picked up by our parents!

Netball-FINAL DAY!!
Hello,
Yesterday was a big day (For Netball). At first we got all ready in the morning so we could be at netball my 11:00 for training but when we got there we found out that netball actually started at 12:00, a whole hour to wait. Whilst we were waiting we went to the park and had a snack. Then we got back to netball and did some training but our coaches didn't show up for the whole game! So the other teams coach helped. Seeing as we were playing later she could stay around to help. We didn't have the best game like last year as we won our last game but, we did get 1 to like 15!! But I was pretty happy because I shot that 1 goal!! But the other team was very good!! After the game we had an awards ceremony and got a medal, chocolate and soft drink!! But in a few weeks we are having a day where an Australian netball team is coming to sign autographs and give out the best and fairest awards!! That will be pretty cool and the team will also be answering questions and hanging out with all of us. But not the whole team is coming, I think it's just a few players. That will be happening in a few weeks to celebrate the 30th anniversary of our netball suburb!! After netball on Saturday we went to a house and mum and dad went and looked at some antiques for sale and the whole house was pretty much full of them!! Then we went home and relaxed a bit for the rest of the day. Whilst our weekend was going my sister Elizabeth had been at camp the whole time and will be coming home tomorrow.

Holidays
Wow, Our holidays just finished last week. We were at home playing the Wii, for quite a bit of them. We also went out and did some other things, but we saved the best thing for last! Just while I am here I was wondering the other day I was wondering why it was called "Wii", I soon found out, it means we, as in a multilayer game, the 2 i's representing 2 people playing side by side. We played alot of games on the Wii over the holidays because it was new and all of the kids were excited. We also spent some time at home and went out for lunch or to see our grandparents. We also did alot of other regular things such as watching T.V playing at home and jumping on the trampoline. We also had sort of a party with all the kids in our family in my bedroom with music, lava lamps (homemade), disco ball or disco cylinder (also homemade). It was easy to make. All we did was get a black piece of paper, folded it up, cut out little holes on the creases and covered them with different colours of cellophane and stood it up on a box (just on the edges) and inside the box we rested a very bright torch and it looked really cool. We also performed a magic show for mum and dad which was so fun and really exciting. But we saved the best thing for last. See, at school we have been studying the gold rush, and at school we had booklets teaching us to use old fashioned writing. Which I now use in my school work!! We also tried to at least every day of term 2, try to write a diary entry. We based it on 2 things. Our teacher put up the temperature for the day and the scenario. It might say something like (in detail) Lola Montez the famous dancer is coming to town. The tickets cost 10pounds and so on...Or maybe Miners are putting together a fort for the Eureka stockade and anything about what was going on at the time. And then everyone got their own scenario card that said gold strike-double today's gold finds, or mine collapse lose 2 days of work, or gonna eats your food must go shopping tomorrow, or some sort of disease, neighbour dies leaves you 10oz of gold and all sorts of crazy things. We have to pick out out scenario card each day and turn it in to sort of a story. We also reached in a box with the amount of gold we earn, if we go to that bank to turn gold into pounds or buy food or something we can only mine for half a day!! The little yellow card tells us how much gold we received. Like 2,5,7,10,12,15,20 and 25oz, which ever one we get we double it if we don't go out, but if we do we just leave it as it is. We record it each day and we have the assay price each day and the highest is 10 pounds. So if we were taking a weeks worth of gold and it was 80oz we multiply it by 10 to see how much money we earned. We also have a sheet with different assignments we can do and we need to do 7. I chose to make a piece of jewellery including the use of gold, make a miners licence, say how I may have felt if I had to leave home to go to the gold fields, create a diarama of a town, Invent a new use for gold and draw some mining tools!! Then we had a day where we dressed up and did some out-side activities, at the end of the day they announced the winners, I was one of them. I got my family a trip to the Bendigo Centeral Debborah Gold Mine. It was so cool. We got hard hats went down a lift. Learnt alot of new things and we saw it raining undergroud! Beacuse the rocks have moisture in them it just kept pouring down water. We turned of the torch on our hard hats off and couldn't even see our hands in front of our eyes! It was incredibly dark with out them. We even saw some LOUD machines. I think they nearly broke my ear-drums!! It was a great experience and a heap of fun!! PICS TO COME

Easter Sunday
Hello!
Yesterday it was a very tiring Easter Sunday. An early start and a busy day. In the morning I found a delicious chocolate rabbit with some eggs and an Easter Chick. It was delicious. I haven't eaten the Easter Bunny yet though!! Later in the day, at about 10:30 I was on the radio talking about what we usually do on Easter Sunday which is going down to my Oma's house, having an Easter egg hunt, some lunch and doing some arts and crafts! It is great fun and alot of work. In the arts my cousins, sisters and I painted some hard boiled eggs and some chine ones. It's great fun. My sister also made up a little activity booklet and I made up some iris folding kits. We also rode the horses and then the hunt was on. There were 36 eggs all together and we got 6 each. YUM!! We also watched a few videos that my sisters and I had made. After all that we all just had a bit of rest and some of the kids went back out to ride the horses and relax for a little while. After a while we started to head home! In the end it was a great day with lovely weather.

School Schoalrship
Hello,
Yesterday I went to a school scholarship test around the area to good to get a place in a very good school!!! They had 4 different tests that went for 2 different times. 1&4 went for 25mins and they were both writing tests. The 1st one was there was a picture of button saying PUSH TO EXIT and I think I wrote a pretty god story in 25mins! The last writing test had a sentence. "It wasn't funny at the time but it is now!!" That test was pretty easy and I put a few stories into one. The middle 2 went for 40mins. The second one was a humanities test and that was very easy. It was probably because we did alot of practise tests on line! Then after the second one we had a 15 minute break and the school provided us food and drink. YUM! Then it was back to testing. The 3rd one was a mathematics and science test which was a bit tricky!! I don't know when we get the results but I think I did well.
I will also write my story that I did as a practise test!

Master Chef (At School)
At school just the other day we had a Master Chef Competition, or as my teacher calls it MC! It wasn't a real Master Chef thing it was just a bit like a cook off between 2 classes. I made 3 different dishes. I will show you one is this post and 2 others in different posts. Hope you enjoy.
LEMON GELATI

LEMON GELATI
First you get 1 cup of sugar and 2 cups of water. Pour sugar and water into a pot bring to a boil and then simmer for 3-5 mins. Then you will need to put that in th fridge over night.
In the morning grab out the liquid and put on a bench whilst you make your lemon juice. We used 5 lemons. But you will need 1 1/2 cups. First you heat up 2 lemons in a micro-wave for 1 minute. Be careful, they're hot. Now you cut one in half. It was funny because 1 our ones was stubborn and some off the juice flew out!
Any way, so then you get out all the juice and by putting it in the microwave you will get more. keep doing this whilst your pour it into a measuring jug. Pour the sugar and water & the lemon juice together and put back into the fridge. Now beat up 2 egg whites in a mug until nice and white. Get your lemon sauce out of the fridge now. Next, if you have an ice-cream machine pull it out and pour in the lemon sauce. after about 15 minutes pour in the egg whites. if you like you can colour the the gelati.
If you DON'T have an ice-cream machine, get an empty ice-cream container, Pour in your mix but NOT the egg whites. Put the lemon sauce in a freezer and every couple of hours pull it out and mash it with a fork, to see if it is frozen. when it is nearly frozen get it out of the freezer, get out the egg white and pour them in and give them a stir. Put them back in the freezer until it is frozen.
We also made up little chocolate shapes. Heres a picture of the melted chocolate.
